Department Description
The Data Engineer GIS is a member of the Survey Department tasked with the creation and maintenance of geo-information, data management and analyses of this geospatial data in association with other project related data. The Data Engineer GIS will also be responsible for the creation of project specific and/or industry accepted data models as needed on a project-to-project basis. Furthermore, the Data Engineer will collaborate in the creation and maintenance of the GeoAI models in conjunction with the data models that shall be complied with.

Job Description
Verify (and adjust) the data-models to comply with the project’s final deliverables. Assist with the creation and maintenance of the GeoAI model and capabilities. Assist with geo-information product creation from acquired imagery. Provide services in the office to ensure that geo-information is prepared correctly, both during job preparation and execution. In addition, provide services that analyse and compile the data package to be issue to the client on- and/or offline. All in a structured and well documented manner.
Job specific tasks
- Support and advise other departments on the content and interpretation of geo-information in the broadest sense.
- Survey data processing, analyses and (digital) reporting in accordance to the contracts and relevant procedures.
- Maintain an accurate log of the data handling steps carried out and any deviation from the procedural workflows.
- Liaise with and support other disciplines on geo-information driven decision making.
- Ensure that geo-information is created in accordance with the specified data models.
- Ensure that the GeoAI model is maintained and delivered for use offshore;
- Participate in GeoAI models in other fields Allseas may be pursuing actively.
- Compile templates and corresponding instructions for GIS based field reporting both offline as well as online.
- Assist with the configuration of geo-information delivery portals , dashboards in support of the digital transformation.
- Review and approve external or internal input on geo-information project deliverables.
- Assist with the completion of final as-built deliverables either on- and offline ensuring that metadata is administered correctly to all geo-information provided.
- Inform Supervisors Processing/ Reporting on problems and/or issues with the data.
- Remain up to date with industry standard data models, sharing technology and new survey acquisition technology and industry trends.
Education & Experience
- BSc/ MSc degree in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Geodesy or Earth Science.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience with the setup and maintenance of GIS for offshore hydrographic survey and geospatial operations, including the provision of layouts, programming tools, GeoAI for FMV/Oriented imagery and geospatial analysis associated with preparation or execution of the work.
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Affinity and strong interest in offshore construction work.
- Understanding of hydrographic survey systems and methodology.
