Department Description
Allseas Engineering is looking for a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative Digital Platform team. Our engineers rely on a unified, cloud-native environment to build, test and ship software—whether they’re in Delft or 1,000 km offshore. Do you thrive on building and operating cloud platforms? Do you enjoy designing solutions that balance innovation with reliability? If so, we look forward to receiving your application.
Unit Scope
Discipline Description
Job Description
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and operate the cloud services that underpin our global digital platform. You’ll ensure workloads run securely, efficiently, and at scale—whether in the cloud, in our offices, or on vessels worldwide.
You’ll build and maintain infrastructure as code, implement guardrails and security baselines, and enable developers with container platforms and CI/CD pipelines. You’ll also partner with IT Ops, security, and developers to connect hybrid environments, drive zero-trust adoption, and deliver resilient solutions.
Above all, you’ll play a key role in optimizing cloud resources, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring best practices are codified in documentation and procedures.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain moderately complex cloud-based solutions, services, and guardrails (policies, blueprints, security baselines).
- Design and implement complex Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible) for repeatable environments.
- Operate and improve container platforms (AKS/EKS), registries, and secret management.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines to safely deploy infrastructure and platform services.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, backup/DR, and performance tuning for workloads.
- Collaborate with developers, security, and IT Ops on hybrid connectivity and zero-trust solutions.
- Optimize cost through rightsizing, scheduling, reservations, and improved tagging/FinOps hygiene.
- Mentor junior engineers and produce high-quality documentation and operational procedures.
- Deliver projects with minimal supervision while balancing speed with best practices.
Education & Experience
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, databases, and PaaS services. You are motivated by automation, cloud engineering best practices, improving developer experience and bridging the gap between our on-premise/vessel platform and the cloud.
You have excellent communication skills, enjoy working closely with technical and business stakeholders, and are comfortable operating in hybrid environments.
In addition, you have:
- A BSc or MSc in Information Technology or a relevant field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or platform operations.
- Experience designing and maintaining IaC and container platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, or JIRA.
- Role-appropriate certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-700, Terraform Associate) preferred.
