Department Description

The Pipeline Engineering Department is part of the Allseas organisation and prepares and provides support for the offshore pipelay campaigns. The work extends from the proposal phase to offshore execution and pre-commissioning of pipelines. Within the Pipeline Engineering department there are multiple disciplines and each discipline contribute with the brightest minds to meet the project goals working as one team.

 

The Pipeline Structural unit is part of the Pipeline Engineering department and is responsible for designing the structures needed in a pipelay project. The team's expertise lies in two primary categories of structures: permanent structures (such as PLET, ILS, and manifolds) that are integral to the pipeline, and installation aids (including heads and rollerguides) required for the pipeline's installation.

Job Description

Structural engineers design and analyse structures for functional loads specifically in offshore environments. You assess the integrity of structures and ensure it meets safety, performance and regulatory standards.

 

As structural engineer you are responsible for:

  • Analyse and prepare project specifications for construction of subsea pipeline projects structural components, review fabrication drawing, liaise with and supervise fabrication subcontractors and equipment suppliers;
  • Develop equipment for subsea field development projects or installation vessels;
  • Prepare designs, design calculations (and reports) for all structural design work within scope, budget and schedule;
  • Identify the risks and consequences of the vessel or equipment related to the strength/stability/safety/class approval etc.;
  • Perform analytical calculations and structural simulation using FEM analysis;
  • Prepare plans and procedures for the installation and inspection of equipment and discuss these procedures with the project team and the offshore personnel responsible for the execution;
  • Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, crew, clients and certification authorities’;
  • Opportunity to stay on board our vessels as a Field Engineer and provide installation support.

Education & Experience

  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical, Aerospace (preferably) or Civil Engineering;
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong analytical skills and technical insight;
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
  • Willingness to work offshore occasionally, depending on the nature of your project;
