Department Description
Allseas’ Pipeline Production Department (PPD) consists of five units: Welding and Materials Engineering, NDT Engineering, Coating Engineering, Equipment Engineering and Production Engineering. The department is responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of pipelay Welding-, NDT and Field Joint Coating (FJC) procedures in line with the agreed client specifications.
Next to the activities related to the pipelay projects, the PPD is involved in the construction of structures, modifications and repair of vessels and platform preparations for heavy lifting by means of the development and verification of welding-, NDT- and coating procedures.

Job Description
We are currently looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Pipeline Production Department in Delft, the Netherlands.
The Welding Engineer provides specialist know-how and is responsible for the welding activities for all project phases (tender, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning) and co-ordinates between vessel(s) and work site(s), client, project team, departments, subcontractors, and suppliers as well as other business contacts. Depending on the work volume and complexity anticipated, the Welding Engineer will be assigned to one or more projects. Candidates will ideally have proven welding and/or pipeline experience and will be comfortable working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment.
Tasks:
- Identify, develop and qualify the welding methods to timely and economically produce the pipelines and their appurtenances, including testing, documentation, client approval and third party verification, as required for the project;
- Review project requirements and provide input for tenders;
- Provide technical input and cost estimates for welding methods, equipment and consumables, required for project preparations and production;
- Initiate, manage and control the process of developing and improving welding equipment;
- Liaise with subcontractors, and review of welding proposals and documentation;
- Monitor the daily progress of ongoing production on Allseas’ vessels and / or work sites and if necessary assist on site;
- Maintain and expand technical and practical knowledge of (offshore) pipeline welding and construction work, including non-destructive testing techniques.
- Actively participate in (international) welding related committees and workgroups.
Education & Experience
- MSc / BSc degree in Engineering and / or International Welding Engineering (Las Praktijk Ingenieur);
- 1-3 years’ of experience in the welding or pipeline industry;
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
- Prepared to work offshore and abroad (occasionally, and for short periods)
