Job Description
As a Learning & Development Crew Specialist, your mission is to ensure crew members across our fleet receive the right training and certifications at the right time, regardless of where they are in the world. This role focuses on planning, coordination, and follow-up rather than creating or delivering training yourself. No prior maritime or offshore experience is required. What matters most is your motivation to learn and grow into the role.
What are the tasks of the Learning & Development Crew Specialist?
As a Learning & Development Crew Specialist, your tasks include (but are not limited to) the following:
• You plan and coordinate mandatory training courses for crew members worldwide, for the vessels and crew assigned to you.
• You ensure all certifications remain valid and compliant with relevant regulations.
• You act as the first point of contact for training-related questions from crew members and colleagues.
• You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to keep training programmes aligned with requirements, without being responsible for developing content yourself.
• You proactively identify training needs in close cooperation with supervisors.
• You gather feedback from crew after training and monitor overall training quality.
• You occasionally visit vessels around the world to maintain strong relationships with vessel management teams.
• You also visit training providers globally to ensure quality standards and strengthen partnerships.
• You support administrative colleagues with the processing and follow-up of crew certification documentation.
Important note: This is not a training design or delivery role. If you are looking to create or deliver training sessions yourself, this position may not be the right fit. We are looking for someone who enjoys logistics, planning, and coordinating on a global scale.
Education & Experience
To succeed in this role, you should recognize yourself in most of the following requirements:
• Planning, organizing, and maintaining overview are your key strengths
• You preferably hold a Bachelor / MBO degree (or have achieved a similar level through experience)
• You have relevant work experience where planning and coordination played an important role
• You are comfortable working with MS Office, especially Excel
• You are occasionally willing to travel to our vessels (on an exceptional basis)
• You have a good command of English, both written and spoken; Dutch is considered an advantage
• Prior industry knowledge is not required, but you are eager to learn and develop into an expert in your field
