In our office in Essen, we manage all crewing activities: crew and personnel planning for our vessels, certifications and compliance, crew operations, and general HR matters for our crew members. To further strengthen our Crew Operations Department, we are looking for a Teamleader Crew Operations.

Job Description
As Teamleader Crew Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of all crew-related logistics and operations. You will lead and inspire a team of Crew Operations Coordinators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. You will be the main point of contact for vessel teams, port agents, service providers, and internal departments, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with Allseas’ Integrated Management System (AIMS).
You will actively participate in project preparation and readiness review meetings, contribute to decision-making and action tracking, and coordinate your team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all crew logistics. You will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, support onboarding and development of new team members, and promote the consistent application of best practices across the Crew Operations organization.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Crew Operations Coordinators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee and coordinate all crew changes (onshore and occasionally offshore), including travel, visas, medicals, and logistics with internal departments and external agents.
- Participate in project handover and readiness review meetings; translate outcomes into clear logistics and planning actions for the team.
- Manage day-to-day queries, supporting your team in resolving issues.
- Coordinate with service providers (e.g., helicopter operators, crew boats) and ensure accurate logistics requests.
- Execute mid-year and performance appraisals of your team members
- Attend after-action review meetings, providing meaningful input for improvements.
- Take the lead in crew planning and project planning meetings with the applicable stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure the applicable norms and standards are met in daily operations.
- Support onboarding of new team members and provide input for team evaluations and development plans.
- Serve as the principal contact point for vessel managers and communicate vessel updates to the wider crewing organization.
- Provide feedback to project preparation and vessel managers on port agent performance.
- Attend daily calls with the Vesel Management Teams for relevant vessels and support operations visits and fact-finding on new port agents for new project locations.
- Provide backup to other Team Leads and the Unit Head Crew Operations as required.
Education & Experience
We are looking for a confident, stress-resistant leader who communicates assertively and diplomatically. You should be comfortable taking ownership, empowering your team, and maintaining oversight during busy operational periods. This position is suitable for experienced professionals ready to take the next step in their career and lead a high-performing crew operations team.
You should meet most of the following requirements:
- Preferably a Bachelor’s or MBO degree in Tourism, Management or another relevant study (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as a team lead or a similar role
- Strong familiarity with crewing logistics in the shipping industry
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to forecast demand across technical disciplines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to manage planning under pressure with strict cut-off timelines.
- Able to prioritize effectively, delegate tasks, and take ownership of team outcomes.
- Good command of English (spoken and written)
- Willing to occasionally travel offshore to one of our vessels
