Department Description

As Unit Head Marine Crew, you are responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Marine Crewing unit within Allseas. In close colaboration with the Unit Head Construction Crew and Crew Operations, you ensure that our offshore vessels are manned with the right people. You report directly to the Vice President HR. 

You translate business and fleet requirements into a clear crewing strategy, drive continuous improvement across planning, HR and learning & development, and safeguard professional standards within marine crewing.

Job Description

As Unit Head Marine Crew, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Defining and delivering the marine crewing strategy, aligned with fleet schedules, operational demand and long-term workforce planning
  • Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team of Crew Planners, L&D Crew Specialists and HR Crew Consultants
  • Setting and embedding service level agreements (SLAs) across marine crewing disciplines
  • Defining offshore headcount, skills mix and succession planning for the marine domain
  • Driving continuous improvement across planning, HR, learning & development and crewing processes
  • Leading and facilitating key crewing events such as Target Meetings, Readiness Reviews, Crew Launch Meetings and After-Action Reviews
  • Ensuring consistent application of crewing policies, procedures, competency matrices and training requirements
  • Acting as a senior stakeholder for vessels, operations and discipline leadership on marine crewing matters
  • Managing external parties such as recruitment agencies and training providers where relevant
  • Safeguarding compliance with applicable maritime, HR and certification standards
  • Promoting a strong discipline team mindset and collaboration across crewing units 

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in key crewing decision-making moments.

Education & Experience

To be successful in this role, you should largely recognise yourself in the following profile: 

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent by experience), preferably in HR, business administration or a related field
  • Proven experience in offshore crewing, HR leadership, or complex workforce planning environments 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate operational demand into practical solutions 
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills 
  • Comfortable operating at senior and executive level, both internally and externally 
  • Strong command of English, spoken and written (additional languages are an asset) 
  • Willingness to travel and visit vessels on an occasional basis
