Division Description

Working offshore on one of our vessels means that you are at the heart of the action and taking an active part in shaping the future of the offshore industry. Our offshore crew members are dedicated and determined to get the job done efficiently without losing sight of safety.

The construction crew co-ordinates and executes all the preparatory work in the pipeline factory, providing the services necessary for the vessel to execute Allseas’ core business, pipeline installation. To this end, welders work together with bevel machine operators, coating operators, riggers and quality inspectors.

Department Description

The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team onboard a pipelay vessel specialises in assessing the integrity and quality of pipeline welds and materials without causing damage. Utilising advanced techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, magnetic particle inspection, and dye penetrant inspection, the NDT team detects and evaluates defects or irregularities in the pipeline.

Job Description

  • Quality control checks of project pipe material; 
  • Calibrate AUT Dolphin system;  
  • Create Dolphin AUT setups in accordance with setup documentation; 
  • Optimize AUT setups to meet specific project requirements; 
  • Carry out AUT verification block checks; 
  • Conduct R&D testing activities as directed by NDT Supervisor or NDT Engineers; 
  • Follow AUT validation and qualification procedures; 
  • Train and mentor new NDT team members;
  • Give general feedback on weld quality to Welder Foremen; 
  • Collaborate with NDT Scanner Technicians to perform maintenance and improve workstations during non-production periods. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • ISO 9712 Level 2 in UT, PT, MT; 
  • AUT Operator certificate; 
  • Knowledge of welding processes, codes and standards; 
  • Capable of performing effectively in a hands on environment; 
  • ToFD, PA, and Visual optional; 
  • A2 level in English, verbally and in writing;
  • Relevant experience as NDT AUT Operator on offshore pipeline vessels.

  • Magnetic 2, NDT-method
  • Penetrant 2, NDT-method
  • Ultrasonic 2, NDT-method
