Division Description
Working offshore on one of our vessels means that you are at the heart of the action and taking an active part in shaping the future of the offshore industry. Our offshore crew members are dedicated and determined to get the job done efficiently without losing sight of safety.
The marine crew comprises three main teams: nautical, technical and catering. The nautical crew is responsible for sailing the vessel; the technical crew (engineers and mechanics) maintains the installations and equipment on board such as the main engines and electrical plant; the catering crew (cooks and stewards) provides catering and cleaning related services for all crew on board.
Department Description
The Technical Department, under responsibility of the Chief Engineer, is vital to the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. In accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, this department ensures compliance with standards for machinery maintenance, energy efficiency, and environmental protection. Its primary role is to maintain and operate all mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems on board, guaranteeing reliability and safety at sea.
Job Description
As Third Engineer Deck, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels’ deck machinery and equipment. You’ll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the Shift Leader Deck and First Engineer Deck, and collaborating with a skilled technical team.
Your responsibilities include:
- Maintaining independent watchkeeping duties and performing maintenance and repairs on deck and mission equipment under supervision.
- Acting as deputy for the Shift Leader Deck when required by the Chief Engineer.
- Timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
- Informing the Shift Leader Deck of any malfunctions or changes in deck or mission systems and equipment.
- Using and updating safety procedures and documentation under supervision.
- Keeping all personal documentation (passport, seaman’s book, medical certificate, CoC, and STCW training certificates) up to date and valid.
- Performing fault-finding, executing and recording corrective actions.
- Fulfilling duties as indicated on the station bill, including ship security.
- Conducting accurate duty rounds and equipment inspections, and actively participating in handovers.
- On pipelay vessels, maintaining production during pipelay operations and preventing breakdowns.
- On construction vessels, maintaining operability of heavy lift systems and cranes, assisting with ballast operations and monitoring TLS/JLS systems as required.
You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System. Qualifications & Experience
To succeed as Third Engineer Deck at Allseas, you should have:
- Maritime engineering education and compliance with all STCW requirements.
- Minimum 3 years’ general deck engineering experience.
- Experience with deck equipment, such as; winches, deck cranes, lifesaving appliances, compressed air systems and hydraulic systems
- At least a first experience on Offshore Construction, Dredging or Pipelay vessels.
- CoC with competency level III/1 “Officer in charge of an Engineering Watch” or higher, with no limitations.
- A2 level English proficiency (spoken and written).
- Computer literacy and ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Knowledge of pipelay processes, cranes, and hydraulics.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and results orientation.
Certifications
- Medical certificate (or equivalent)
- Offshore survival
- Certificate of Competence (or equivalent)
