Division Description
The Marine Division on board forms the core manning that operates and maintains the vessel as per IMO requirements. It consists of the Nautical department, which contains the Bridge Team, HSE Team, Medic, Ship Security Officer and Catering Team, and the Technical department, which contains the (deck) Engineers Team, Electricians Team and Warehouse Team.
Department Description
The Nautical Department, under responsibility of the Master, plays a crucial role in the operation of the vessel. Under International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, the roles and responsibilities of this department are defined to ensure the safe and efficient navigation and operation of the ship. The roles arre essential for the smooth operation of a seagoing vessel, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient navigation. The IMO's Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) define the competencies required for each position. On Allseas' vessels the Nautical Department consists of the Bridge Team under supervision of the Chief Mate, the Catering Team Team under supervision of the Catering Manager, the HSE team under supervision of the (Senior) Safety Officer and the Medic. The Department works in close collaboration with the construction Department to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Job Description
Your main responsibilities are:
- Act as Bridge Officer of the Watch;
- Act as Junior DP Operator under supervision of the First Mate/Chief Mate and/or Second Mate;
- When conducting DP Trials, execute the task plan as directed by First Mate/Chief Mate;
- Keep close collaboration with survey department and verify correct positioning at regular intervals;
- Keep close collaboration with (Senior) Tension Machine operator and cross check on correct tension levels;
- In close collaboration with the (Senior) Tension Machine Operator and Chief Mate, First Mate, and/or Second Mate, efficiently optimize pipe pull speeds, accelerations and decelerations;
- In close collaboration with the Chief Mate, First Mate and/or Second Mate, efficiently optimize power consumption by the DP system, its subsystems and other power consumers withing the department;
- Keep close collaboration with ROV department when applicable;
- Ensure that navigational equipment is operational and report any deficiencies;
- Ensure that nautical charts and publications are updated according to latest notices to mariners and report any deficiencies;
- Prepar voyage planning as per AIMS-VSL-PRO-0804;
- Monitor weather forecasts and navigational warnings and report any anomalies;
- When en-route on an ocean passage, conduct regular verification checks with weather routing software and liase with Chief Mate, First Mate and/or Second Mate on possible optimization;
- Control the balast system as directed by the master or Chief Mate and be aware of vessel's stability;
- Maintain direct communication and co-ordinate activity and/or SIMOPS with all relevant departments involved in the operation at hand (survey, deck, firing line, cranes, engine room);
- Maintain communication with other vessels in the field and arange Ship to Ship logistics in liaison with Barge Foreman and First Mate/Chief Mate;
- When not en-route, monitor and advise about optimal use of available ship's sides and deck cranes for ship-to-ship transfers, in collaboration with the Chief Mate, or First Mate and the Barge Foreman;
- Monitor activities with regards to safety, health and environment and assist where necessary;
- Record all events and/or incidents in the vessel's log as per AIMS-COR-PRO-0406;
- Carry out general marine operations;
- Carry out general vessel maintenace and inspections;
- Perform maintenance to vessel's (fixed) Firefighting System and Firefighting Appliances, Life Saving Appliances and SOPEP Equipment;
- Participate in (emergency) drills and exercises as per schedule and be part of the emergency teams as per vessel's Station Bill
Qualifications & Experience
- Compliant with al STCW requirements as per AIMS-VSL-MTX-0532-01 "Crew Certificaton Quick Reference Guide";
- In possession of COC with cmopetency level II/1 and IV/2 "Officer in charge of a Navigational Watch with NO limitations);
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications;
- Fluent in English language, verbally and in writing
- Good communication Skills;
- Good Reporting skills
